Our story…

Bistro Alley is a place built by a young couple with no professional restaurant background. The idea was inspired by the Southern European wine bar culture we fell in love with — where food and wine are unpretentious, approachable, and affordable.

We all know how expensive it can be to go out for dinner in Helsinki, especially in the city centre. With Bistro Alley, we wanted to create something that we felt was missing: a place that stays honest to the culture and vibe that inspired us, and to the food and wines we serve.

Our goal is to stay small, local, and truly part of the neighbourhood — a restaurant that focuses on the people of Kallio. Bistro Alley is an open space, a common dining room, and a shared living room for everyone.

The seasons change, and so do our menu

We don’t change the whole menu at once, but our food and wine lists evolve constantly with the seasons.

Things we do best:

  • The foods

    We serve bistro-style food made with local ingredients, while our kitchen takes inspiration from the flavours of Asia, the Middle East, and Southern Europe.

  • A key lime margarita

    The wines

    We don’t try to sell the cheapest wines. Instead, we focus on artisanal wines made by small producers who care about improving viticulture and promoting responsible agriculture.

    We’re a small team from all over the world — young, passionate, and dedicated to what we do and how we treat every single guest.

For inquiries

To keep things running smoothly, online reservations are available for groups of up to 8 people. For larger groups, please send us an email and we’ll be happy to assist. We always have some tables just for walk-in guests.
